Qualifications
- Degree in accounting, finance, or similar qualification with 10 years’ experience in accounting services.
- Possess chartered and certified qualifications in accountancy.
- Project or programme management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
- Analytical and report-writing skills.
- Fluency in written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, following procedures, meeting deadlines and working and problem-solving independently and cooperatively
- Possess a valid passport and willingness to travel internationally during the project’s implementation when required; and
- English ability at a native / high professional level.
Desirable qualities/experience/skills:
- Chartered and certified accountant qualification.
- Experience in coordinating staff/team.
- Team oriented and demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work in multicultural environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities of the accountant are to-
- Preparation of the Secretariat’s’ budget
- Preparation of the Secretariat financial reports.
- Maintenance of appropriate accounting record.
- Ensure time collection of membership contribution.
- Ensure that all payments are duly authorized, supported by documentary evidence and effected within the required deadlines, and charged to the appropriate items of expenditure.
- Examine monthly payroll for the Secretariat.
- Regularly prepare reconciliations of accounts, including bank reconciliations.
- Provide timely and reliable financial or other information to SG and Director, Corporate Services.
- Monitor expenditure and ensure budgetary provisions are in line with the approved budget items.
- Advise the Secretariat on appropriate internal control and accounting system.
- Provide the Director of Audit with all information and records they may require for the performance of their respective audits.
- Assist Secretary General in the implementation of recommendations made by Director of Audit and CSO/COM
- Undertakes procurement for the secretariat inline procurement regulation.
- Prepare monthly financial report to Secretariat Management and quarterly budget monitoring report for Member States.
- Performing any other duties, tasks or jobs as directed by the Employer or Director of Corporate Services whether these other duties, tasks or jobs are ancillary or connected, directly or indirectly, to the duties and responsibilities listed above.

27400 x 825 - 35650 x 900 - 37450 x 950 - 42200 x 1300 - 46100x 1575 - 49250 x 1650 - 54200 x 1700 – 62700
