The 2025 UNODC Southern Route Partnership Meeting was held virtually on 16-17 December 2025. Organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), this meeting focused on enhancing coordination to combat drug trafficking and other illicit flows along the southern maritime routes in the Indian Ocean.
Mr. Shivraj Dhuppe, Director for Maritime Safety and Security at the IORA Secretariat, contributed as a panelist alongside representatives from other regional and international maritime and law-enforcement centres. Discussions centered on strengthening coordination between specialized and generalist centres, improving analytical information sharing, and adapting to evolving trafficking tactics at sea.
In his intervention, Mr. Dhuppe highlighted the importance of collaborative analysis, trust-based cooperation, and actionable maritime domain awareness.
