The Regional Workshop on Marine Pollution, Incident Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Cooperation was held from 16 to 18 September 2024 at The Docks, Port Louis, Mauritius. Organized by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), this workshop addressed a key environmental aspect of maritime safety.
The workshop emphasized the necessity for collaborative efforts and the sharing of best practices among expert agencies to tackle maritime pollution challenges, disaster management, and preparedness. Discussions covered oil spill response, hazardous and noxious substance (HNS) incidents, and regional coordination mechanisms for pollution emergencies.
