SG of IORA, Dr. Salman Al Farisi, delivered lecture at the National Defence College of Oman

On the invitation from H.E. Mr. Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, IORA Secretary General, Dr. Salman Al Farisi, delivered lecture at the Oman National Defence College (NDC) on “The Indian Ocean Rim Association and its role in global development” on 29 October 2023.  The lecture was attended by NDC enrolled senior staff and officials. 

 

NDC is an academic centre which offers courses on regional and international affairs. It is an intellectual institution which prepare a qualify Omani (military and civilian) leaders to acquire knowledge, skills, value, and attitude that would enable them to assume position of leadership.  

 

At his lecture to the senior staff enrolled in NDC Oman, IORA Secretary General shared about the Geo-strategic importance of Indian Ocean and IORA’s strategic approach to Indian Ocean. Oman is one of the founding countries of IORA and continue contributing effectively to the work of the Association.  

 

SG of IORA had a dynamic discussion session with the participants whereby they raised some question on how IORA can enhance its role to address the emerging challenges in the region. They also provided insightful input for IORA to further promote cooperation on sustainable development in Indian Ocean region.
