The Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum (IORBF) fosters business dialogue, action and partnerships that drive inclusive and sustained growth and balanced development in the Indian Ocean Rim region. The IORBF supports business-to-business, and business-to-government engagement.
The objectives of the IORBF Terms of Reference are:
- Promote commercial trade and investment opportunities in the region;
- Strengthen business dialogue, networks and partnerships in the region; and
- Support and inject private sector perspectives into IORA’s policy debates and initiatives to promote social and economic development in the Indian Ocean Rim region
The IORBF’s policy vision is to:
- Recognise that the private sector is the main driver of sustainable economic growth and employment.
- Support the pre-eminence of the global, rules-based, multilateral trading system as the best means for ensuring balanced economic growth and alleviating poverty.
- Ensure that the people of the Indian Ocean rim share the benefits of economic growth, improved education and training, and greater connectivity.
- Reduce barriers to trade and investment to enable goods, services and capital to flow freely among our economies.
- Facilitate increased interaction and free movement of entrepreneurs and businesspersons in the Indian Ocean region.
- Lift the least developed and developing countries in our region onto a sustainable growth pathway to close the disparity between least and most developed.
Protect the environmental integrity of our region.
